It's A Wrap!!
5/31/2013Obviously, today is the last day of May which means that summer is quickly wrapping up. I cannot believe that summer season is already at its end since it only feels like yesterday when we were all giddy about going to the beach and getting our body in shape for bikini season. Unfortunately, every good thing has come to an end and for me, my summer is a hell of a wild ride!

Summer 2013 taught me a lot of things. Unlike my summers in the past, this one was full of emotional roller coaster. It has ups and downs, downs and ups. It was definitely a wild ride not only for me, but also for my family and friends so since summer season is giving its final hurrah today, I would like to share with you the things that I have learned this summer 2013. Let's begin!
Learned Life Lesson No. 1: Change is the Only Permanent Thing in Life

We all want to hold on to the things that are familiar to us. It can be our favorite pair of rubber shoes, our beloved novels or it can also be the persons that surround us like our families and friends and once we are out of our comfort zones, it can be difficult. If you had read my blog post H.O.H. (Head of Household), our family underwent a full 360 degree change and fortunately, we are coping up. Change is difficult but it can be coped up. It can be scary but it is not impossible to overcome. My message to you: don't be scared if a change occurred. We can all surpass it if we move forward. Like I said, nothing is ever permanent in life except change.
Learned Life Lesson No. 2: It's Okay to Open the Left Door
This summer, I learned to be more adventurous and fearless. I think I finally overcome my fear of waters when my cousins and I went to Splash Island and when I almost drowned. Almost. Being fearless and adventurous is not just
about being able to jump off a cliff or sky dive, for me, it is about trying the new things. You can say that you are fearless and adventurous when you choose to open the left door even though you feel like opening the right one. Let us not be afraid to try new things because in this new things, we can learn more about ourselves, about the persons that surround us and about the environment. It's okay to change new things.

Learned Life Lesson No. 3: Picking Your Phone Can Change You
I took the advantage of having a lot of free time this summer to reconnect with my high school friends. I went back to my alma mater and visited the organizations that I was once a part of. Because of this, I saw how true friendship can take the test of time.
You can realize that your friends are true when you can speak with each other for hours and felt it wasn't enough. Friendship is very delicate so if you feel like you're losing touch with your friends, it is perfectly fine to grab your phone and set a get together. Life is not ever lasting but friendship is. Keep that in mind.

Learned Life Lesson No. 4: Having a Heart of Child is Healthy
My sister keeps on laughing at me whenever I watch animes. According to her, it's like I am becoming a kid again. But, who cares?? I love animes and it will forever be a part of my life. This summer I took the spare time given to me rekindling the things that I used to do when I was a kid. Watching cartoons and animes, writing stories and killing time. This year I will be turning 18. Yes, the big one-eight. Time truly flew by so quickly but it does not mean that we can never be a child at heart when we are in our twenties or thirties, right? Having a heart of a child has its perks like taking life lightly and being optimistic all the time. Given the situation, we need to be mature and take everything seriously but all of us needs a breather. A time to be a kid again.
Learned Life Lesson No. 5: Live in the Present, Not in the Past or in the Future

Ican say that this summer taught me to just enjoy and take things one step at a time. I realized that living in the present is fine. It is perfect because if we live in the future, we will be stuck planning and over thinking and if we are still in the past, we are terribly late. Living in the moment taught me to enjoy the little things like the moment when the wind blew my hair when I run or when the sun kisses my skin whenever I go out. It is okay to be mellow once in awhile because once we get back to school or to work, everything will change. Every day we live will be about the future, the past but not the present. Live life one step at a time.
So, two months of summer has come to an end. June is creeping in but even though the weather will get chilly and the rain will start to pour, let us not forget the little things that summer has taught us. Summer is the best. It does not last forever but it will take months for us to forget it. It will always be in our hearts.
