It IS About the Money, Money, Money

Summer is a great time to relax and unwind after the gruesome ten months of pure studying and stressful days. That is the up side. The down side? Well, with no need to go to school, with no need to commute to and from school and with no need to buy food and things for school, there is no allowance. Yes, no school means no allowance. NO MONEY. Jessie J. sang that it is not about the money, money, money but even though we hate to admit it, it is about the money. We need money! But, how can we save money with all of the parting, events and teenager needs that we need to attend to? Well, here are some ways for us teenagers to not be broke.
Based from my experience, bringing the classic lunch box can go a long, long way. This may sound childish and uncool but doing this can save you a lot of money since this will prevent you from buying expensive food. This is especially true in college. If not all, then most of the universities are surrounded by restaurants. From Jollibee to Army Navy, they are all there and there are a lot of times when you will go overboard in buying food. Food is important but it is not the only thing in the world. So, my advice to you is bring a lunch box. If you cannot manage to bring one, the number one strategy is to be frugal. Choose the best choice and your wallet will be happy.

Another savvy way to save money is to think twice or thrice before spending on something. Before buying something, for example, a bag or a pair of high heeled shoes, think whether you are buying these out of necessity or out of boredom. Impulse buying is a major killer in saving money. If you will just let yourself buy anytime you want, trust me, you will be broke in a short time. Also in buying things, think as if you are investing. Think about that cute shirt if it could be versatile and could be used plenty of times. Think about that designer swimsuit you are dying to buy simply because your friends already have. Is it worth it? Is it a good investment or is it just an impulse buy? Think before buying.
It is very hard to step away from that delicious milk tea or that mouth watering frappe but after buying it, is it worth the price? As a student, we all have different addictions. Sweets, milk teas, frappes, yogurts, it's all there. I admit that all of them taste good and I also have difficulties in stopping myself from spending on them but this is also one of the major causes why students go broke. It is okay to miss your daily caffeine fix or your after school milk tea date with your friends. Yes, it tastes good but once the container is empty, so is your wallet. Buying a milk tea or your favorite food or drink can be reward for you. You can buy them after a difficult exam or after a stressful day at school. You can still buy them but just not everyday.
Spending is fun but being broke is so not cool. We all have different needs and necessities and wishes and desires but we all have one thing in common, we do not like being broke. Money makes the world go round and it is a need for all of us but abusing it can cause a lot of setbacks and problems. After reading this blog post, I just want everyone of you to remember this: think before spending and see spending as investing. So, happy spending guys! :D
