Elena Gilbert of The Vampire Diaries shuts down her humanity and disables her ability to feel after her brother's death thus, leaving her a complete orphan. She was unable to bear the hurt and pain she felt so she decided to turn the humanity switch off.

The humanity switch may be a complete imaginary model created and produced by the writers of The Vampire Diaries. It was not real but after everything the world is going through right now, maybe this humanity switch is real.

Case in Point No. 1: The Boston Bombing

The Boston bombing occurred during the very famous Boston marathon wherein millions of runners from all over the world gathered to finish the race. The Boston marathon was an annual race held since 1987 and who would've think that this special event will become a tragedy that will end many people's dreams and lives?

The bomb was placed at the end of the finish line wherein a lot of runners and speculators gather to watch the said marathon. The explosion left 3 people dead including an 8-year-old boy and over a hundred people injured. A lot of injured runners lost their legs thus, leaving them disabled for the rest of their lives and will not be able to run a marathon again like ever before.

Honestly, I don't know how a person with a correct sense of right and wrong could ever do such treacherous act. It is very sad that hundreds of people, together with their dreams and wishes, should suffer just to make attention or to prove a point.

Case in Point No. 2: The JFK Library Bombing

Following the infamous Boston Bombing, another explosion hit the JFK library. The JFK library is built in memory of the 35th president of the United States of America. Although nobody got hurt during the explosion, the bombing destroyed a part of the library's conference room and auditorium.

Investigations are being conducted if this explosion is somehow connected to the Boston Bombing although for me, as an outside spectator, I think that these explosions are connected since the JFK library is not so far from the location of the Boston Marathon.

Case in Point No. 3: World War III?

After closing the connecting roads of South Korea and North Korea, it seems like the North Korea are determined to attack. Despite actions undertaken by the U.S. and the United Nations to make peace with the said country in a democratic manner, the North Korean government refused. The North Korea is known for developing nuclear weapons which can damage a great range of countries so, it is scary if the North Korea officially starts a war.

Even though the Philippines are not directly involved in the arguments between the NoKor, U.S. and U.N., we can be affected if the North Korea begin a war. It is definitely scary. Millions of people could die and thousands of dreams would be crushed.



We Can Still Be Happy

With the three cases presented above, it can be truly scary to determine what the future holds of us. It can be good or bad but I still believe that we can still bring everything around. For me, even though one person turned their humanity switch, there is still something there to bring the humanity switch on. Let us pray and hope and believe that the future will be on our side.
