Honestly, one of the reasons I await for Christmas day is because of the so-called "pamasko." I know this might sound childish but of course, it is good to have some extra cash, right? Once we have cash, we can go on an all-out shopping spree and buy buy buy! It is anybody's dream but looking back to that particular tweet. I ask myself, "How can I be so selfish? How can I be so blind?"

We are all guilty of being blinded by the glitz and the glamor that surround Christmas. This is the season where we can finally found a reason to buy new clothes, go to different places and attend dozens of Christmas parties all around the metro. It is the season of partying and unwinding from the stress of the year and it is good but not quite.

First things first. Why do we celebrate Christmas? What is Christmas? According to the ever trusted Wikipedia.com, "Christmas is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ and a widely observed holiday, celebrated generally on December 25 by millions of people around the world." There may be parties happening in every corner once December began and shopping stores may start to have holiday sales but we have to realize that the reason why we are celebrating and trying to look presentable is because Jesus Christ is coming and it is His day not ours. We celebrate to welcome Him and not to overshadow anyone during parties and big events.

Unfortunately, the happiness that surround Christmas season is depleted because of man's materialistic nature. We all think that we can be happy once we land a pair of the latest shoes or the brand new android phone model that just came out to the market. Well, obviously it is not the case.

Jesus Christ was born in a manger surrounded by all of the dirt of the sheep even though He is the Son of God and is actually a king. The very first Christmas was a little one. It was simple not like the kind of celebration we have today. Of course, I am not saying that we stop from being happy but I just want to say that we have to not forget the true essence of Christmas which is being with our loved ones and just having fun. Simplicity.

Well, that's it. We all love Christmas day and we all love spending and unfortunately, we cannot split this two apart so let us just keep in mind that Christmas is the birth of Jesus Christ. It is not a simple excuse to grab some new clothes and spend. Christmas is special on its own and we can make the most out of it by being happy and being with our family and friends.
